Caterpillar recently unveiled the first model in its new line
of hybrid excavator, the Cat ® 336EH at the trade show, “The Next Generation is
Here.” The new 336EH will be sold and serviced exclusively through the global
Cat dealer network following the machine’s official launch in Munich, Germany.
The order board opens in February of this year, with factory shipments starting
in March.
Freightliner announced that it is now offering a
customer demonstrator program for its all-new Freightliner Cascadia ® 113
natural gas day cab. Five customer demonstrator tractors will be available in
the United States and Canada to provide customers direct experience with
Freightliner’s newest alternative fuel product. “Natural gas products can
result in significant fuel cost savings, making it a smart choice for
increasing profitability while benefiting the environment,” says TJ Reed,
Director of Product Strategy for Freightliner.
Hino Trucks deployed the Road to Recovery
Assistance Program for customers impacted by Hurricane Sandy in November, 2012.
Hino dealers in the New York Metro and Northeast regions were introduced to
this initiative. Hino provided $1,000 in assistance for every truck being
bought to replace a damaged or lost truck as a result of Hurricane Sandy and
set aside inventory for immediate delivery to help customers recover as quickly
as possible.
Isuzu Commercial Truck
of America
announced the debut of food trucks to their line. Nine Isuzu NRR diesel cab
chassis were outfitted as food trucks by Mobi Munch, Inc. and placed into
service on college campuses throughout the United States. Due to the success of
this launch, additional trucks will be servicing other campuses in early 2013.
These trucks provide latin, Asian, and hot dogs vendor-style.
Kenworth employees donated nearly 7,500 pounds
of food to Northwest Harvest in Washington state. In the spirit of the holiday
season, Kenworth employees in Kirkland, WA conducted a food drive that resulted
in the nearly-four-ton donation. One of the company’s Kenworth T270 medium duty
trucks was loaded and driven to make the delivery. Kenworth Truck Company is
the manufacturer of The World’s Best ® heavy and medium duty trucks.
Mack
Trucks selects
JOST International to supply American-made fifth wheel coupling dvices as a
standard feature on MACK ® Pinnacle TM, Titan by Mack, and MACK
Granite ® model trucks. Previously a value-added option for more than a decade,
this new standard is consistent with their commitment to offer customers the
best total value. With only four moving partsk these fifth wheels are one of
the simplest and safest coupling devices on the market. Mack trucks are still
assembled in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania.
Navistar
Defense Canada highlighted
its latest in International ® brand military vehicles recently at the
Expodefensa expo in Bogota, Columbia. As part of the display, the company
featured its new Special Operations Tactical Vehicle. This is the company’s
vehicle entry for the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Ground Mobility
Vehicle (GMV) 1.1 program. The vehicle’s highly-mobile, mission-ready platform
is engineered specifically to carry large payloads while handling the roughest
mission terrain.
Peterbilt Motors Company displayed at the Great American Truck
Show in Dallas,
Texas, where they had the opportunity to attend business strategy meetings and
participate in educational seminars. This was a great venue for their new Model
579 and other Peterbilt models. Peterbilt combines a global reputation for
industry leading design, innovative engineering and fuel efficiency solutions,
with superior quality to engineer a truck that stands as the “Class” of the
industry.
Western Star rolled out a new website dedicated
to its fans. Through www.StarNation.com,
Western Star owners, operators, and enthusiasts can browse news, forums, and
photo galleries. Managed by Western Star owners and fans, Star Nation joins the
widespread Western Star community together to exchange maintenance tips, locate
hard-to-find parts for older trucks, and share experiences. Online registration
is free and members can personalize their profiles with a picture and brief
bio.
Volvo
Trucks recently
announced that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National
highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have awarded all model year 2014
Volvo vehicles certificates of conformance under the first-ever greenhouse gas
regulations for heavy trucks. According to Goran Nyberg, president of Volvo
Trucks North American Sales and Marketing, “Environmental care is a
longstanding Volvo core value, and we will continue to work with EPA and NHTSA
to deliver on the important goals of these regulations.”
