A Letter from Jerry Johnson - Vice President of Sales

If you’ve ever listened to a motivational speaker, chances are you’ve heard them use the word  “momentum”  many times in their presentation. Momentum in industry is defined as the power to increase or develop at an ever-growing pace. 2013 has been  a very challenging year, but J&J was able to identify key market areas that are expanding, and focus on developing products that are key to those industries. The second half of this year has picked up dramatically, and we look forward to 2014 with great optimism.

Our core customer base has grown significantly over the past several years, and we continue working hard to make sure this continues. Over the next year you’ll see new faces being introduced, as we continue to expand our sales group, focusing on existing key market areas and expanding our efforts into new markets.

Through the good times and the tough times J&J has always held to a few primary beliefs:

  • If you build a quality product at a competitive price, people will recognize and buy quality.
  • If you stand behind your product with top notch parts and service personnel, people will recognize the effort, and your business will grow.
  • Treat everyone with respect;  build relationships; take the high road.

We know you have many choices when it comes to buying
any of the products we manufacture, and that is why all the employees at J&J will continue to work as hard as we possibly can to earn your business. The number one goal we’ve adopted as an organization is TO SATISFY YOU, OUR CUSTOMER. We want to wish you a Blessed Holiday season, and a healthy, happy, and successful New Year.

And thanks again for your business.

Marcellus Shale Gas Update: Growing faster than expected.

Natural gas production from the Marcellus Shale region is growing faster than expected, according to a new federal report issued in October. Marcellus production has now reached 12 billion cubic feet a day, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) report found. That's the energy equivalent of about 2 million barrels of oil a day, and more than six times the 2009 production rate.

For perspective, if the Marcellus Shale region were a country, its natural gas production would rank third in the world, after Russia and the rest of the US. The Marcellus now produces more than double Iran's yearly natural gas output.

The vast majority of the Marcellus gas is coming from Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Above Normal Snowfall Expected

According to the Farmer's Almanac web site, "The Days of Shivery" are back! For 2013-2014, they are forecasting a winter that will experience below average temperatures for about two-thirds of the nation. A large area of below-normal temperatures will predominate from roughly east of the Continental Divide to the Appalachians, north and east through New England. Coldest temperatures will be over the Northern Plains on east into the Great Lakes.

Significant snowfalls are forecast for parts of every zone. Over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, they are "red-flagging" the first ten days of February for possible heavy winter weather. More importantly, on February 2, Super Bowl XLVIII will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey's Meadowlands - the very first time a Super Bowl will be played outdoors in a typically cold weather environment.

At J&J Truck Equipment, we have everything you'll need to maintain safe roadways, parking lots and driveways this winter. J&J Truck Equipment is an authorized distributor for leading snow and ice equipment brands such as Boss, Fisher, Tenco, Meyer, ProTech, and Swenson. Let our knowledgeable, factory trained staff help you select the equipment that meets your needs, and your budget.

Remove, Repair, Refurbish: Tow/Wrecker truck body gets a new lease on life.

A J&J customer brought us this 1981 GMC truck and asked us to salvage as much as we could from it to use on their new Kenworth chassis. The first step was to remove all components including lights, hoist, body, hydraulic system and pump, and metal panels. Quite a lot of rust was found in the exterior and interior portions of the old truck. J&J technicians blasted, cleaned, modified, reinforced, and painted all usable components and parts. All lighting was re-wired and re-installed.

The results were amazing. From drab to fab! So, before getting rid of the body on your old truck, come see the experts at J&J Truck Equipment.

The truck will be used to fix and service heavy-duty equipment at job sites.

CNG Conversion Training: Getting Ready for Alternative Fuels

At J&J Truck Equipment, we recognize that domestically produced, alternative fuels such as CNG, LNG, Propane and DME will be preferred truck fuels of the future. J&J Truck Equipment has been training technicians and performing contracts to provide fuel system conversions and up-fit alternative fuel vehicles. In addition to investing in technical training, J&J will be adding two CNG powered pick-up trucks to our fleet as we embrace cleaner burning natural gas as a domestically produced energy source.

J&J technicians have been trained on:

  • Mechanics and engineering of the alternative fuel systems
  • Economic savings calculations
  • Installation of electrical sub-system, fuel sub-system including pressure vessels, high pressure gas lines, filters, and safety devices
  • Programming to achieve optimum vehicle performance
Adam and Lucas are two J&J technicians who
recently completed CNG fuel systems training.
